Goderich 200, is a podcast celebrating the vibrant legacy and people of Goderich as we prepare for our bicentennial in 2027. If you were ever one to visit the Beer Store back in the day, you might remember our guest today. Pat Osborne came to Goderich in 1960 to open our first beer store following a historic local vote that repealed the Canada Temperance Act. Prior to that the county had been “technically” dry for 46 years, having originally voted to enact the CTA by referendum in 1914.

Phil Main is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, cloaked in a mystery. At least, he likes to think so. He’s really just a guy with a big heart who loves where he lives! (Can you tell HE wrote this?) He will jump at almost any chance he gets to go for an adventure in or around Huron, Perth or Bruce County and he especially loves his hometown of Goderich.

Above all else, Phil loves his family and friends, but a close second is his community where he is always happy to serve when he can. He also loves music, whether it’s sitting back and listening or writing and performing. Be forewarned that if you ask him what his favourite artist or band is, he will most likely respond with “Supertramp … no Eagles … no wait, the Beatles … nope, James Taylor … or maybe Lightfoot or no wait … ” This could go on for some time so if you do decide to ask, be sure to bring snacks.
